Top things to do in Valencia

6th July 2017 /Posted byUrban Youth Hostel / 2224

One of the top things to do in Valencia is take a walk around the old river Turia, which has been converted into a large park with lots of different activities. Renting or bike or tandem with family or friends is a good idea to get to know this park. Also, you can use the giant chessboard or play some mini golf and have a good time.

Don’t forget to go to the City of Arts and Sciences for an amazing view of Valencia. It’s a couple buildings with architecture so amazing, it’s hard to stop taking pictures. In the city, there’s lots of different activities. L’Oceanogràfic is the largest aquarium in Europe with seven different areas and a tunnel to get up close to the sharks and various types of sea creatures. In addition, a couple months ago, they added an incredible jellyfish exhibit and a 4D movie that will surprise you. L’Hemisfèric is a 3D theater where they play different movies every day for the public. The big screen and the 3D glasses will transport you to incredible places; the Príncipe Felipe Museum of Sciences is a great place to have fun while learning during their diverse technological and scientific exhibits. It’s possible to buy individual entrance tickets or buy them together in a group for a lower price.

Walking through the center of Valencia and all of its history, you’ll get to know its culture and the way of the Valencian people. Emblematic buildings like la Lonja de la Seda, the Cathedral or the Plaza del Ayuntamiento will surprise you with their beautiful architecture. In addition to this, walking through the local markets is the best way to get to know typical Valencian foods. The Central Market and the Colón Market are two of the key places to visit and make good memories in Valencia.

If you’re in need of a relaxing day, and just want to enjoy the sun and the marina wind, the beaches of Valencia are the best place for you. The most well-known beach is La Malvarrosa, with an unbeatable environment of bars, pubs and restaurants. However this isn’t the only beach, all along the coast you’ll find calmer beacher like El Saler or la Playa de Pinedo.

Some of the other top things to do in Valencia if you have the opportunity to stay here for a couple days, visit the Albufera park, where the biggest lake in Spain is, and the most important wetlands of the peninsula. Its an ecological park that can be discovered by walking around or taking a boat around the rice fields. Also, this area is known for its restaurants because you can try amazing rice dishes like paella, senyoret rice, arroz a banda, among others.

Valencia is definitely a great place to visit for your vacation, with friends, family or in a pair. It’s a city that will surprise you, and will not leave you unsatisfied. Come and enjoy!
